The World Bank has approved a 5 years Forest Action Plan a bit more than two years ago. The presentation will address the following questions: What has changed in the mindsets? What type of programs are being developed? What are the trends and what are the priorities moving forward? How can WB finance reduce poverty in the forest sector? And what are possibilities for cooperation?

Werner Kornexl joined the World Bank in 2000 as the Private Sector Development specialist at the World Bank Office in Brazil where he worked with forest landscapes, climate change and renewable energy. Subsequently, Werner helped create the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility and was promoted to Environment coordinator in Indonesia. Werner previously worked in the Brazilian Environment Agency and in several timber production companies as well as in non-wood Amazon forest products companies. An Austrian national, Werner has a Master’s degree in International Trade (Vienna) and studied Environmental Economics at the GetulioVargas Foundation (São Paulo).
